Ateneo Style

what a night this has been.

i started this day at 4:45 pm. i had to take a cold shower which i dont usually do (i bathe in warm water...) so i could catch up to this bayad center and pay my telly bill. they close at five, i arrived two minutes after closing, but they let me in nevertheless. very kind people. then im off to bench fix and got my hair cut. for the first time, i got depressed to the point of violence when i saw my new hair. it just didnt do justice to anything, the pesos i gave, the length of my previous hair, the expectations ive been rearing when i went there. grrr... i prefer my hair when it was uncut. it was unruly and wild, almost fiery, and i didnt even have to comb it or do it with wax.

whatever.

then off to misa party at ateneo upon lynnie's invitation. len was there (boy hunting as usual), and i couldn't help myself from comparing the ateneo crowd from the UP crowd. at the back of my mind i was thinking of considerably negative things about my university: the deteriorating quality of education, the manners that students there lack, the inability to wear good clothes and look good on them, a lot a lot et cetera et cetera.

actually, just to appease my urge to squeal, i like the atenista crowd more than the ones i have in our usual adhoc-taskforce parties in eastwood. although the atenista crowd lacks the rowdiness the youth of today should exemplify, i cant help but appreciate the cleanliness of partying with them. it's like, everyone is a party platypus anyways so let's just make the most out of it...

ugh. so after that we went to Gesu for the simbang gabi. actually i wouldn't have had come if not for the astounding feel i felt the last time i went there for the simbang gabi... im a non practicing catholic, but if all the churches, if all the choirs, if all the priests, if all the crowds in the catholic world were like that at Gesu, then id profess again.

then we hung out at bell field. saya. un nga lang inulan kami, but it's worth the while...

...

ugh. ateneo is getting into my nerves. whenever im in ateneo, i feel like im looking at youth at a different perspective. they're somehow alien... too goody goody. and i feel alienated about it. to think that this is my youth, my generation, my peers... ugh.

am i really wasting my youth on petty things?

or maybe im just envious.

how could they be as happy as they are???

hay ewan.

...

tas tomorrow we'll go back to batangas na. to be honest, until now, im not sure if i really want to go back to lipa. there's nothing i should visit there anyways. i mean, even though being in QC means being cold and alone all the time, i prefer being here than going back to lipa to mingle with irrational people. it's sickening. i want to stay here. i like my condo because it provides an escape to the harsh reality of who i really am.

blah.

may dilemma pa pala ko. len has a problem going back to QC alone so she wants me to accompany her back. haay. ewan, if i had the all the money in the world, id do that. im still thinking.

blah.

happy christmas.

Caravan Blues

i think christmas has gone by.

i went to national bookstore today; they weren't playing christmas songs anymore. suddenly there arent many christmas trees everywhere... and the lanterns... only come to life at night, but dies again when the clock strikes twelve. in the morning, they are but street trash...

haay. i dont feel christmas anymore...

...

maybe it's my allergic rhenitis that's causing this gloomy mood. you see i went to this caravan that my organization has put up. we went to three places in metro manila to visit charity institutions. first we went to this home for the aged in antipolo, and i think it is there where i got the allergens that activated my mucus-secreting glands... their activity was aggravated by the heat when we reached the second destination which was the slum area inside the ABS-CBN compound. it was ironic coz they actually have a squatters' area in a highly industrialized piece of land. hmm... then we were off to nayon ng kabataan in mandaluyong, and by then, my nose is at worst condition.

im sick now. wow. thanks to the heat and the caravan.

at least i get two cdc counts already (i will force jared to make it three). i need two more... actually if i attend many cdc's (more than four, whcih is the required quota), they'd grant me free tickets for the ad hoc-taskforce event next year. but that's highly unlikely to happen because i am at the peak level of slothness i have ever been in my life.

i promise not to join a caravan ever again... as long as it can be avoided. its so tiresome. good thing ninya and pie were there...

let's see.. what are my devoirs for the christmas "vacation..."
-two take-home exams for econ111
-group project (gp) for econ172
-gp for geol1
-individual project (ip) for econ172
-presentation for econ151

that's only for this "break." next year we have to prepare for a quiz in econ111, my french12 finals (then after that it's french13), and midterms for the rest of my subjects. wow! ok...

sabaw. we'll just cross the bridge when we get there.

...

i cant go back to batangas yet. my lola's place doesnt have a phone line because it's too far out in of the city, so i wont get internet connection if i stay there. so i stay here, in qc, for a while, until i get done with things that i need to use the internet for. blah, how could christmas be as boring as this.

bai.

-borrrrrriiiiing... happy christmas.-

Cwizmas Clues

im really getting there, the breakeven point where i am at the most efficient level of acquiescing my anger episodes at the most socially equitable level. im good.

weee! im excited to give out my gifts to pie ayen tin and sarsi... let's give out clues so they'd salivate... haha!

my gift to pie is not a gift at all, i will just lend her my sandra brown books, so she'd lend me her dvd series... haha

my gift for sarsi is no brainer... haha! ang ganda ng clue...

my gift for ayen will change her concept of grapes forever... bwahahaha! nah that's too much...

my gift for tin is... wireless. haha!

ok i'll sleep now.

-happy christmas!-

Yuletide Anger

hindi. since Christmas is coming, there's no room for sulking over petty things. besides, they're petty. ive grown eighteen years to overlook the simplicities of this grand life.

as len said, being happy is a matter of choice. it is us who decides if we will lead a happy or sad life... makes sense. i have reconciled the things that anger me, and it makes me feel happy.

this morning, i woke up with an aching abdominal muscle (i pulled it, haha, in my attempt to make a plankboard out of my tummy...). nah that's not important. again...

this morning, i woke up with christmas wrappers at my feet, an unfinished sandra brown book beside my pillow, and three pounds lighter in terms of anger units. im glad that the sleep made me a better person (yesternight, i slept in anger, cursing people who dont go my way). Sleep has rejuvenating effects.

again, im excited for this friday. i cant wait for the lanterns.. ayen made one, and i will be the critique of her artwork... haha! nah, joke. actually im more excited of the prospect that christine is going on a date... hmmm...

"Christine has matured very much since she was my student back then..." these are the words of Professor Ernesto Pernia. indeed she has grown (longer hair.. haha!). i remember christine sitting beside me and my friends at world lit class, blank and lost when Dr. Jose asked her about the Iliad. haha, tin was so, hmmm, should i say naive back then...

oh well.

wow, christmas is making me happy. even though im basically not having a christmas "vacation" because i have a huge load to be done over the "break," im happy nevertheless. tin says we should look on the brighter side of things. oh the optimistic her. maybe the idea of being able to catch up on missed sleep sets off the bad things that i have to do this christmas. haha.

oh by the way i hope when we return next year, things are ok. i hope vida settles things, you know, even though she's your friends' friend, you cant help but miss her coz she's bright and intelligent, and well, full of life. ...

thata. let's all be happy this yuletide season...

-happy christmas-

Approaching Christmas

haay. hmmm...

it's almost christmas! yehey.

im excited for no particular reason. maybe because the lantern parade is coming... or maybe i know that i will receive gifts this christmas, or maybe the mere fact that everybody is happy.... hmmm.. makes me happy.

somehow i commend Jesus for existing. eventhough i dont believe in catholicism wholly, im happy that Jesus entered this world and made everyone happy on christmas... i thank him for that...

and oh, for me, christmas is not really being able to give something to someone, it's actually being able to make people happy without hurting yourself in the process... for me that's the very essence of christmas...

alors, joyeux noel tout le monde... c'est tres heureux non?

-happy happy happy...-

Pusoy Addicts

we are card addicts. we are specifically: PUSOY addicts.

cant live college life without pusoy. thanks to my friends, they play it with me. yey i love it coz it relaxes my mind and enhances my logic. my favorite pusoy mates are tin, pie, sarah, and tin, and ayen... yeY!

we are so addicted, that wherever we go, we bring a deck of cards and play right there and then. today, we went to econ's lib building and played pusoy there...

actually we played pusoy there because we were amazed by the immaculately shiny and smooth floor. tin was sliding around... here are tin's sablay pics...

haha! sablay! and take note, dahil sa kalikutan nyang yan, nasira ung slippers nya... haha! and not to mention that she still has a report for econ198 after. haha! so she had to wear my slippers because luckily i brought one. they're so big on her feet. haha! SABLAY!

sabaw...

Cable World

i live in a world of cables.

cables around my feet, cables over me, cables cables cables... cables connecting the desktop computer together, cables connecting the tv to the non-functioning cable-tv line, cables connecting the laptop to the printer, cables from outlets to appliances, cables that convey electronic impulses to the telephone, cables cables cables...

im getting tangled in all the cables. and im scared that any minute now, a crossover might happen and exchange electric impulses damage my electronic systems. or the ground circuit of any of the appliances here create an anomaly, and create a power block-out. or maybe with all the heavy metals stuffed in the black insulated cables, they might come in contact with certain materials brought about by other cables sharing the same air space, undergo radioactive decay, and release radioactive residuals. worst, an electrical glitch might happen and subject me to electrocution. brrr....

cables cables cables...

i hope there comes a time where everything is wireless. of course that cant happen, because i sure mind having electric molecules pass through my body instead of a wretched cable.

and i wont even last until the time when power would be rendered wireless.

-i hate wires.-

Spell Bum

i have totally bummed out these past four days. last week i went to the university only twice, and considering i dont have wednesday classes, man, im totally bummed out.

i kind of planned to read my books in my econ majors so i could catch up with the discussions but i guess the wonders of having a laptop is more enticing than reading thousands of economic jargon. i ended up doing a movie marathon that stretched overnight, and my eyes cant get any redder.

i watched: lost in translation, zoolander, cold mountain, fun with dick and jane, and carmen... yeah, basically drama and comedy. haha, i still dont have the guts to watch a horror/suspense thriller alone. so... ok you can call me chicken now.

anyways, i wish i could get the hang of reading my books because compared to last sem, i have all the time now. i quitted pep, i dont have freaking biology electives anymore, and im done with econ131. it's just weird because i should be attending to my studies by now, but i get a lot of distractions, not necessarily physical things... sometimes i just find myself staring to nothingness, thinking of things that prove hazardous to the mind of a collegian like me. oh well.

i just realized... green and white make a very energetic combination.

im so so broke. in my attempt to get a starbucks planner, i practically subsist on tuna... would you believe that?? just tuna!!

nah, im joking. i cant even call it a day if i hadn't had breakfast in the morning. i just think i wont be able to finish the stickers this year, and as what happened last year, i would finish collecting stickers by January, thereby leaving a part of the planner's January empty. ho well.

ooh! so ive actually started reading my econ172 readings! look, there are orange highlights! haha...

deng so i have to read them all over again because i cant remember what they're about anymore. dammit.

ayoko tinatamad ako. bukas na lang.

S&A Breakfast

wow, it's a cold cold morning, but i went under the shower nevertheless. it's weird coz i dont normally shower cold water, but im feeling hot today so... brrr... sarap.

and in this cold weather, nothing's better than eating a sandwich and coffee breakfast. yum...

Sandwich and Coffee Breakfast 101: how to make a tuna sandwich and coffee breakfast (i am overly repetitive)...

1. first you have to have the ingredients in making an S&C breakfast like wheat bread, sandwich spread with chicken chunks, and canned tuna. you can use other meat products if you want, like ham or bacon or ma ling...

2. get a slice of wheat bread and pour/spread on top of it as much sandwich spread as you want. be generous.

3. spread out to all sides evenly.

4. after spreading, open a can of tuna in brine, strain some of the liquid off the tuna flakes, then put them over the dressed slice of wheat bread.

5. cover the "sand" (wala pa ung "wich" kasi kalahati pa lang...) with another slice of bread. this way, the second slice will absorb the rest of the liquid oozing from the tuna flakes so when you eat, you wont have brine dripping of your scrumptious sandwich.

6. for the final touch, you have to have something that will help chug down the tuna down ur cold esophagus, so buy yourself a starbucks holiday special peppermint mocha latte (available in starbucks stores near you...)... it's no ordinary latte, because unlike the other lattes which scorch your tongue, this one has peppermint coolers so the hot and cold set off each other, still warm, but you dont get your tongue singed anymore. yum!

and there you have it! your tuna-flakes-in-brine-sandwich
dressed-with-sandwich-spread-with-chunky-chicken-chunks and coffee breakfast... this is best enjoyed on cold mornings and when the wind blows like it wants to scrap off the roof of your house.

bon apetit!!
