Pencil Straight

finally watched spider man today. i suppose most of the people here have watched spiderman already, that's why i had the whole of robinson's cinema 5 all to myself (and some couples snogging at the corners...) sometimes i think i appreciate movies more when i watch them alone. cause there are times when company messes up the mood of a film; you sometimes miss the good parts because your friend turns up to you and asks what happened and things like that.

maybe i'll just download pirates of the caribbean from torrent... my mum is getting irkier and irkier at the moment; my expenses for this week sums up to about 4 thousand, and that's already half of what my mum earns at the insurance company... kaya tipid tipid muna.

my retainers must be adjusted. one part of the orthodontic device impedes my bite, so i feel like most of my lower front teeth are moving... which cannot happen, because i just wont let that happen. my teeth cant move because we spent about 30 thousand for them, and i spent three and a half years wearing the braces, the whole time of which i had sores and whathaveyous inside my mouth. so i have to get my retainers adjusted. but my dentist's clinic is always affected by the brownouts that are irritatingly becoming more common nowadays... are they caused by the elections, are they proof that batangas electric is undergoing administrative problems i dont know, but i will need the electricity back..

excited na ko pumasok... hehe. i was able to persuade my mum to buy me a new bag because my other bags seem to be giving up on me - they were shouting for replacements... nakarating kami ng kung saan saan trying to find my ideal bag - a mailman's with adjustable straps, black and gray with white stripes, spacious, and made of cotton... well, we didn't exactly find the one i had in mind. i had to settle for the mailman's bag from bench which is also cool.

i wish i get my PI subject. even if it's panggabi, papatulan ko na, malapit lang naman ako sa UP. i need to finish 18 units this coming sem so my thesis sem would be a lighter load. ugh the pressure of graduating on time. my ninangs actually already have plans of how to spend my first paycheck... they say they'd go to a comedy bar again and blow their heads off... of course i'd treat... uff the pressure - that means i must get a high-paying job or it's big disappointment in the grab bag.

if i can only tell them the trend of things in UP. they always say economics is the course that lands you to high-paying jobs... what they do not know is that there are two kinds of economics in UP. one is business economics, the other one is pure economics which is my course. it is fact that most of the big earners on the roster of alumni graduated with degrees in business economics. all of them knows a lot about bookkeeping, accounting, and finance. they are the ones who get the big jobs, the high-paying jobs at some international bank or some multi-national company working on the accounting, marketing, and finance departments... we who study pure economics can only land meager call center jobs or some shot at the HRD if we failed to get into real economic jobs like in NEDA or the stock exchange. maybe they were thinking about business economics all the while they talked to me about big savings accounts and posh workplaces at the office...

hay buhay. it's very hard to please everybody.

when you are around the most competitive students at the university, your beliefs about employment will change dramatically. dreams can only be dreams unless you do something about them. basta wish ko lang sana may tumanggap sakin pag grumaduate na ko... then i will work my way up from there...

Greenhills Sucker

the day doesn't match my mood. im quite sunny today, outside its drenched drenched but im still sunny..

yehey! we went to greenhills yesterday, and believe it or not, it was my first time there. ang ganda pala. kasi before, i thought it was some far away place; if i were to shop for very cheap new clothes, id go to divisoria or one of the sm outlets around, but never to greenhills. eh un pala, dito lang un sa may edsa! why the world is so small escapes me, but discoveries make up for the confusions... greenhills i like...

yuck, bano...

anyways.

we went to laffline yesternight, partly to celebrate my birthday, and partly to let my mum and her amigas unwind... kasi over the years, our summers were filled with neverending photo sessions of me and my family at the beach or in laguna waddling in some hot spring.. there's always water, as far as i can remember, because for us who lived just two hours away from tourquoise seas, summer outings always meant a trip to the beach or to some hot spring, or to some resort where there is a swimming pool... well for a change daw, nagcomedy bar naman kami... we saw pooh-quaio, the guy who impersonates manny pacquaio and he's so funny really, at bading pala sya haha. and there's anton diva, who is inarguably more feminine than my mother... haha! ang saya saya talaga.

sana daw we could do it again sometime... kasi you have to give it to my mum and her amigas, they've been through very tough times already, the most difficult times you could have ever imagined, and still they're here, working hard on a closely knit friendship that doesnt seem to tarnish over time. they work on the same office by the way, kaya ganun na lang ang kanilang closeness.. it's from them that i started believing that the strongest people on earth are those who have friends who watch their backs.. that's why i have my non-new year resolutions to go with my... *drum roll*

BIRTHDAY!!!!! Happy birthday to me!!

yahoo!! two decades on earth and counting. quarter life crisis is far from my mind right now, because at twenty i suddenly see a whole life in front of me. after seven years of teenage life, id say ive learned a lot, but there's a lot more to learn, and im more excited about the future now. if you just try to look at the brighter side of things, then twenty isn't that bad. the future is actually not that bad either. bahala na si batman as they say, but whatever batman does, i guess you should always put a smile on your face.

as for my non-new year's resolutions, i now vow to a new life full of hope and honesty. im more determined to be a good person now, so i'll try to be as friendly to people as possible, try to think of sounder things, and try to understand the things that go on around me. it's time to get real, with myself and with others, and it's time to set my goals and put the pains of the past behind me.

because of that, i change my lay-out into a brighter hue of blues... it's sort of an organized chaos, based on the premonition i have about my future, mukhang magulo pero maayos naman, hehe. pero ang simpler explanation jan eh gusto ko lang magkaroon ng a&f articles kahit na malayong mangyari un... hehe. pero malay nyo..

happy birthday to me!! sana may magpabirthday pa sakin para makabili pa ko ng new clothes, hihi... but seriously, my birthday wish is more concerned about my health, and my mum's... sana we'll have good health para... para... wala lang.. para hindi na kami bibili ng gamot... haha..

happy birthday to me!!

Termite Busting

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!

TERMITES!!

...

i can't help but feel sorry for the volumes of encyclopedias that were eaten by the nasty little critters that resided in the guts of our very humble home. those were the very first books i read. you see the original plan was to renovate the roofing because it leaks when it rains. but when the carpenter peeled the ruined roofs one by one, he discovered that the space between the roofs and the ceiling was infested by mounds and mounds of termites, and on some parts, there were bird nests and alien droppings.

well they cleaned it, sprayed everywhere with termite-killer. after the rigorous task, we ended up having two sacks of books eaten away by termites, a mound of bird nest material, a heap of peeled ceiling, and a stripped and smelly house.. how fun. this whole thing is the exact reason why im typing under yellow light instead of the clearer flourescent. man...

hurry up the construction please... ak termite!!!

...

the current crs system astounds me... they say everything has to be registered online, and the computer you should use must be under the DILNET umbrella... well im thinking, how are all the UP students supposed to cram theirselves in the SC, when the announcement sort of says that there are no more priority dates, and everybody must register at the same time?!?! (except the freshies and graduating students of course..) and a date for the "distribution of form5A's??" give me a break. what is this, card-giving day?

i dont get it i dont get it i dont get it...

anyways i was lucky to get two econ subjects and two french classes for next sem (if you can call that lucky...) basta sana makakuha ako ng PI at isang MST okay na... another sem full of mornings with julienne sayoc and her pekpek shorts... haha.

...

i need a new set of tops. if you noticed, my t-shirts all went a paler shade of their respective colors because of overuse... kasi i have this tendency to wear only my favorites, those that are made of cotton, or those that are on the top of my closet. if only i could dispose the clothes i dont really wear and get new ones in their place.. mahirap naman mag-garage sale dito eh. people are not at all interested. panu kaya??

well buti na lang may 2 na kong masusuot na bagong pantalon.. hindi naman talaga bago, its just that i never used them before because they were either too big or too long... they went to a trip to the tailors last month, and the tailor did a very good job of editing the pants. they fit perfectly now... yey.

basta kelangan ko ng damit... i call them school supplies so when i tell mum that i need school supplies, she'd oblige immediately. tama naman di ba, school supplies naman talaga ung mga damit... parang sort of uniform...

hehe...

False Asymptote

i have just finished rereading the latest installment in the harry potter series, and i cant believe myself for still feeling deep remorse over the death of a fictional character... albus dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Magic and cheif warlock of the Wizengamot, died under some forbidden curse... how sad. im still so enamored by the whole story, im still thinking about Hogsmeade, centaurs, and the war against Death Eaters...

that's why i like jk rowling so much. she's one of the greatest creative writers of all time for me. even if i reread her stories, i still feel the same emotions; i still feel the movement that is weaved into her rich words... eventhough i have very elementary creative writing education, i believe i recognize a great story once i read one... and the harry potter series is a great story.

well at least for me.. we do have varying tastes do we?

dental checkup cancelled today because dentist was away... oh just so you know, i changed back to my old dentist. my orthodontist and the whole patient-dentist relationship i shared with her turned out to be a fiasco. although my teeth are straighter than ever, i still give myself some room for bickering over the growing space between my two front teeth. yes, they moved! i know it's partly my fault why they moved, because i broke my retainers before i should have finished wearing them, but then isnt quality material also a big factor in successful orthodontics?

and i inspected my teeth just yestertwodays and i found out that some of the cement from my braces are still there. and even some of the quartz! erg i hate my orthodontist.

but i cant go back to her.. you see there's no more point arguing over left-over tooth cement.

so its back to my old dentist, who is an orthodontist herself. but she's way better. she landed fourth in her bar exams, and she has very light hands, they dont make my teeth hurt when i go to my checkups.. she is very expensive though, but then thinking about the many months of repair for my teeth due to my incompetent orthodontist justifies the very high price my now-dentist charges.

oh well.

tomorrow perhaps, my retainers will be adjusted to add pressure on my front teeth. para daw magsara ung space.. yey.

erg start of classes is fast approaching and i still dont get how the new computerized registration system works... i got four subjects from the preenlistment, but i missed two others, making my schedule a bit unsatisfactory.

i enlisted for a 5:30-7:00 PI subject! whatda?!!

i never expected myself to be taking night classes in UP. never ever.

and i gotta get a hold of that physics subject even if the demand is at record high of 324 and there are 2 available slots left...

hoping for the hopeless. yeah.

ok gotsa go.

Battery Suit

We received a mail today; it was addressed to my mother’s other son… apparently it comes from the regional trial court: my mother’s other son was sued for blatant battery of his wife, and of course, for threatening his child to trauma…

Let me give you a very brief summary of the things that happened after the, what other people may call, “rebellious” activities that I did in my attempt to strip myself off the family…

Well I went to college. That meant I’ll be boarding at some other place my then brother will never be able to go to. I thought the house in lipa will finally have the peace and quiet it has been suppressed from for 15 years. But I was wrong. The noise went on, this time, on the tiny little wreckage of a family that resided with us, that same family which siphoned our resources to far-from-proud limits.

My then brother continuously battered his wife and scared off his daughter in the process... They had been fighting over petty things I guess, until come one day, Wife decides to finally leave our house, her daughter in tow, and filed a case of battery against my then brother. You know my then brother, he had abused shabu for a very long time, so I guess the damaging contents of the drug was never eliminated from his system. I was left to deduce that his brain, or at least his psyche, is damaged by the shabu, and the scar will cling to his personality forever, even after endless rounds of rehabilitation and recollection. That’s why he had always been a war freak; he was always somebody else’s enemy. He will forever be a damaged individual for me…

Anyways, I heard them talking about subpoenas and affidavits and other big words I only heard in law schools and movies. My mum was never off the telephone nowadays. And my then brother is as restless as a caged beast, nervous and about to break (note: I am currently residing at the house I have deserted three years ago. Believing that the air is clearer now, I came back, and still won’t talk to my then brother… it’s complicated, but it is better this way.).

Well all this only makes me feel glad that finally, I have proven wrong all those other people who wouldn’t believe me when I told them about the hellish childhood I endured with my then brother. My then brother is a monster. My rebellion, my running away, my letters, now they are all explained by the lawsuit that’s hounding my mother’s other son. I know people can now see things around me clearly.

Everything I have said before, so long as im serious, are all true. I was a battered child but I am no more. I always knew I was on the right, and whatever I have done that made some other person problematic at that time, I guess, is pardonable.

Can I just say? I can easily be the happiest person if my then brother goes off to jail…

Emperor Penguins

i just realized that ive been downloading two movies at a time. ive been waiting for the march of the penguins to finish; it has been a very long vigil, in my very desperate pursuit to watch the world-renowned film. the reason pala why it took too long to finish was that along with the torrent package, there's this other movie that sort of supplements the documentary. it's sort of a behind-the-scenes film, and the story revolves around the life of the two frenchmen who filmed the penguins... you should watch it, it's entitled "of penguins and men..." the two french men recounted their tales about life on the ice, the magnificence of the purest continent on earth.. it's harsh environment, and the persisting life that still takes refuge in it's bitter white blizzards... the film is very moving really, especially when you feel like in antarctica, every daunting agony is coupled by splendor.. say, when father penguins leave their chicks, the sun rises, so the agony of departure is set off by the warmth of the sun. it's very informative. you should watch it, download it from some torrent site, so you could know more about the adelie peninsula, the perfect lattices of ice crystals, and the life of emperor penguins..

but can i just say, i can't really feel for the two frenchmen, laurent and jerome, about the bitterness of the cold, because i am currently overworking my sweat glands in such a stifling environment, any thought of cold is sweet, not bitter.

linnie tagged about her first paycheck.. and she's treating yeheeeyyy!! zombie yehyheyey!! sana andito ako pag naglibre ka liontin...

i still havent watched spideyman. you see my best buddies scheduled a date for the movie, and it's like a week from now, so id have to wait... i hope they keep spiderman on the cinemas until next week... oh well.

oooh i cant wait to see venom, if he really is in the movie.. owp, no spoilers please...

Init Entry

*out of my league*

stephen speaks rocks! the accompaniment is so good it wanna makes me go back to my pallid keyboard teacher and force her to teach me piano...

"keneth, you have very beautiful fingers, long and slender," says my music teacher in formative school. man, i should have studied piano when i was young. if i did i would have been doing concerto pieces by now.

wow the heat really amazes me. see i have this model of a brain which i made some years ago for a pyschology assignment. it's made up of clay, covered with some sort of paint and colored pens... it's sort of melting now; the oil from the clay is oozing out, and smudging the finely detailed labels of the human brain. amazing heat. and the water that's coming out of the faucet is so hot, you can brew coffee in it. apparently the sun heats up the water pipes, thereby heating the water flowing inside it, so water comes out hot. i had to wake up early to catch the morning chilled water, because bathing in hot water in a midsummer noon can get you heat stroking in seconds...

finally bitcomet finished downloading the march of the penguins. i thought it was some bore, but well covers never really lived up to their contents do they? i love the movie the penguins are so cute. they remind me of, in a very bizarre way, me...

roar i wanna go home, its so hot here in qc, wala pa namang ercon tong unit.. phew, im like baking myself, kulang na lang filling, at isa na akong crepe. yum...

Bluffer's Philosophy

there's this really cheap but really funny book at the withering shelves of national bookstore that's been taking up my time since i bought it. it's called the bluffer's guide to philosophy and man it's funny. it gives you a detour to understanding philosophy: you don't have to study complex bodies of knowledge like epistemology and logic to be a pholosopher. well that's what the book claims. so far im amused by the word antics of the author. i like.

he gives out a really funny history of philosophy (which allegedly was an activity instead of a study)... its really funny. there's a part there that tells about the superman that the famous aristotle was... he created so many things in so many different fields, like the right angle, the system of taxonomy, and the theory of numeric composition... but the author makes it a point that all the greatest men in academic history actually was a product of derisive ignorance. aristotle, with all his very intelligent views of everything, actually is a very poor biologist. he says:

"Snakes have no penis, because they have no legs; and they have no testicles, because they are so long..."
-De Generatione Animalium

...

BWAHAAHHAHAHA!!

he sounds like a very normal child with a normally-growing number of brain cells.

and this, after so long, explains why i always thought logic had some streak of idiocy.. (because its maker is never far from being idiotic himself... hihi)

anyways, philosophy has never been a very interesting field for me, although i sometimes fancy myself a philosopher..

you see unlike aristotle, whose rather sub-intelligent logic makes him a very poor biologist, i have a very brilliant view of biology as a science..

since high school, our science teachers have always delivered the definition of biology as the study of life. i settled in with that definition until dissection came and we had to damage a frogs limbic system before we can study its organs... so in a way i thought biology wasn't actually the study of life, it is the study of death, of lifeless organs, and of post-mortem assumptions... we cut open a frog before we can study it's musculature, by the time we had distinguished each and every cord and muscle, the frog would have either died out of bleeding or mere pain. so that's simply gaining knowledge from the death of a creature, before we can assume facts about the the life of it. so for me, biology is the other way around. it's death we are studying, not life. and it is only acceptable that biology should properly be called necrology, the study of death, as i have explained above... voila!

oh pasado na ba as philosopher???

i hope mum brings home pakaskas... i miss my favorite delicacy. and i especially like mindorenyo pakaskas because the molasse is exceptionally thicker...

lini says she cant go to dinner because she is OT-ing at the office to finish a system.. wow. this gives me a hint of how our future dinners will be interupted by rather serious things such as the corporate world. brrrrr... working is scary.

-i'll keep reading, tim is a very funny guy...-

Flying Voter

elgh, i can't erase the inCREdible ink off my finger. it's really inCREdible...

nakaboto na ko! yehey! imy first time (well as i told the three teachers manning my precinct), so i guess that's the reason why the teachers made it very memorable by sloshing more than three drops of inCREdible ink on my pointer. and now, so far, i have the worst looking pointer finger i have seen yet. oh well...

i love. it's ecstatic when you go to the precincts and everybody's giving out sample ballots and pamphlets (of course that's sort of illegal as they lead to electioneering...). i didn't find my name at first, because i was newly registered so my name didnt appear yet at the original masterlist.. but i was on the comprehensive and supplemental lists so they let me vote anyways...

my candidates:
senators: arroyo, coseteng, escudero, lacson, recto, pimentel, roco, villar, zubiri, pangilinan, pichay
governor: ate v
vice governor: mark leviste
congressman: dong
board: bolilia, virtucio
mayor: oscar gozos
vice mayor: don linatoc
councilors: concon, andres, yung daddy nung schoolmate ko (hehe), tska ung si kap (hehehehe) (hindi ko naman kasi sila kilala lahat eh... tsk)

i was watching the tallies on tv and my senatorial candidates do not seem to make it at the top 12 positions yet. but it's okay at least i voted. and they are wisely chosen (i researched each one of them and i voted based on track record, the number of bills and acts they have passed, and the rationality of their gpoa's...)

it's funny coz batangas is suddenly on the map. mayor v decides to run for governor and lo, boyet is running for vice-governo! how star-studded. but just a thought, does boyet know anything about politics? is he even born here in batangas? at least mayor v was mayor first of batangas' most industrialized city.. look, batangas is being tallied on tv now... and news shows keep on flashing reports about taysan, batangas, where a coordinator allegedly slashed off one of his rivals ear lobes... how ingenious.. oh well.

i hate the news on tv. political killings are rather childish, despite the bloodiness of the second word. on a simple creature's point of view (like mine..) all of it can sound like children blaming each other for lost moolah... hay. why can't the elections just be like the elections on other more civilized countries... like france.... i heard they have a new prexy, nicolas sarkozy, and i didn't hear any political killings whatsoever.. well not as far as i know.

hey we know this tricycle driver who went to the elections, voted, but didnt get his finger sloshed with the inCREdible ink... and that's kind of unfair. he could be a flying voter! that's a breach of the election code. hay people..

im rereading the last book of the harrypotter series. you see the next movie will come out this november i think, and the next book will come out this july (or the other way around), and i wish to update myself.. oooh cant wait to get my fingers on that peachy book, harry potter and the deathly hollows..

i wonder when my mum would finally decide to buy me a new set of bedcovers. i hate using orange bedsheets. they affect my dreams, believe me.

*tuloy pa ring nangunguna si darlene antonino-custodio laban sa kanyang katunggaling si manny pacquiao sa pagkakongresista sa gensan...* *over the tv*
-duhhh... what happend to manny? he used to be very down to earth... now he's greedy, thinks the congress is one big blue-and-brown boxing ring...

yey, telly line was reconnected yesterday! so i can surf the net now at home. mabagal nga lang, pero okay lang...

cge kakain na ko babay..

Mid Summer

the heat here is unearthly. if i stayed here all summer id be a walking prune by now. i salute y'all, thee who taketh the classes amid summer, for you have the mightiest skins...

hello qc!! yey im back, but im going home sooner. there's this tradition in lipa, that after the fourtieth day of death of a loved one, the family left behind must feast. it's called the apatnapuan, the last of the chain of feasts that entails a death in a catholic family. of course we have the siyaman, the sampuan, the ewan, etc... well that's why im going just back so soon. sayang i can download movies here pa naman.

it's so funny, coz the moment i entered the door i started assembling the computer and hooked to the internet immediately, haha. so little time. i have to check my mail, update this blog, look for new photos at my friends' multiply, update me with everything, huyf, so little time.

yey i cant wait for saturday, we're going to this waterfalls in san pablo where they say the water is as frigid as springflow. whhooohooo.!!

i hope i get all my subjects sa crs... ang ganda kasi ng sked ko. french first thing in the morning, then econ, then core subjects like physics and philippine institutions... ooh i always loved french kissing the morning. kaya sana makuha ko lahat...

at sana maging classmates ko sa PI ung mga highschool classmates ko... para highschool all over again.

gahd senior na ko sa pasukan!! should i start acting my age? do i need to grow a beard or something? should i look haggard by now?

i have so many questions in mind, but what's bothering me the most now is concerned with the graduation pictures... what if i dont graduate at all?!??!?!

hhwaaaaaahhh..... my econ subjects next year are very heavy... what am i supposed to do with my gradpics if i dont graduate on time?? nakakahiya naman un, may gradpic ka na tapos hindi ka naman pala ggraduate... erf the pressure..

hay, bahala na si batman.

im gonna get a haircut. my hair is like an orgy of serpents engaged in a frenzy.

ps. birthday ko na!! oh no twenty na ko... tanda ko na..
